LED is the way to go, not only does the battery last, green, but you get a more powerful beam. I went night hiking with this and I had by far the brightest light source. Most flashlights I had as a kid faded after a few hours, this held strong with the whiter light then the old yellowish light. Why this flashlight is a little cheaper then other brand and even some from Coast with the same power is the body is made of hard plastic, not metal on more expensive flashlight. But that is fine with me since it is quite light and about 5.5 inches to carry around. It said it is weatherproof, not sure what that mean. It use 3 AAA cells, which I got a lot of for all my remote at home.br /br /The specs: 112 Lumens, 160 hr on one set of batteries, 669ft beam distance and lifetime guarantee. I am not sure if this is true or not, but they say 6 batteries and 1 bulb of the LED laser equal 80 batteries and 17 bulbs of incandescent over the lifetime.br /br /

Amazingly Bright - MAW -
I own numerous flashlights (Dorcy, Mag, Coast) and this one is easily the brightest. It kills my led 2 cell Maglight. The only comparable flashlight I have seen is a Coast 7438, which seems to be an aluminum version of the L7. Both are highly recommended.
